3 Tips to Spring Cleaning your Render

Find out our top 3 tips to spring cleaning your render.

With today marking the first day of Spring, the annual spring cleaning comes to mind.

Make the most of those dry days by rejuvenating your finished façade and remove any organic growth, bird droppings or film of weathering found on the surface of your property.

To ensure a freshly rendered appearance for a prolonged period we recommend 3 easy steps.

Our Top 3 Tips for Cleaning Render:

  1. Where general staining occurs, use a warm power wash and suitable detergent to clean up the K Rend finish.
  2. Take care to adjust the pressure of the power washer to ensure that the render is not damaged during the procedure (this is not suitable for dry dash finishes).
  3. An annual coat of fungicidal wash can prevent algae from growing on weather prevailing facades, which can be prone to algae by remaining wet over long periods.

How to Treat Algae

Algae is an organic growth which will grow on any surface which remains damp for prolonged periods. Locations with nearby wood land or other sources of spores are more prone.

The presence of algae will not adversely affect the long-term performance of the render.

To remove algae from affected substrates, use a biocide or algaecide such as K Rend Algae Clean. This is available from any good general hardware or merchant’s suppliers. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions during application and use of the product.
