St Mac Nissi’s Primary School visits
Every year we welcome pupils from local schools to visit on a field trip as an extension of their classroom learning. The main focus of this visit is to educate children on quarry safety. The visit also explores the environment, the biodiversity of the quarry, conservation and starts children thinking about what jobs they might like to work in when they grow up.
The visit is especially important in the run up to the summer break as it highlights the dangers of entering a quarry unsupervised with the aim of educating the children to ensure their safety over this period.
In May the company welcomed 36 year 7 pupils from St Mac Nissi’s Primary School.
The visits consist of a presentation on the company, a product overview, facts and activities on the biodiversity of the quarry, product research demos, a hands-on product demo and a tour of the manufacturing facilities.
Lisa Neill, Marketing & Product Development Manager comments:
“It’s important to educate the local children on quarry safety to ensure they stay safe over their summer break. The educational visits also provide an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the company’s activities and types of available job roles. These students are the future of our local region so it’s important that they know how the company contribute to the community in which they live”.
Students take away a high visibility vest as a memento of their day, which they can wear in the dark evenings to keep them safe on the roads.
