N.I Hospice walk in Larne is great success!
Over 200 people turned out in Larne to support the Northern Ireland Hospice in their “Walk With Us” campaign. The great weather combined with an excellent turn out made for a very enjoyable walk around Larne’s beautiful coastal path. As sponsors of the event employees were only too glad to join in and support the worthy cause with Managing Director Simon McDowell opening the walk for the seventh year running.
By stepping out and taking part in the Hospice Walk 2012 we are directly helping someone living in the shadow of a terminal illness to benefit from local hospice care. As a local charity the N.I Hospice have to raise over £5m every year to care for the people who need their help.
Every pound raised will help care for those who need their support.
- £150 could pay for a Hospice nurse to say overnight in a patient’s home, allowing exhausted relatives to get a night’s sleep.
- £100 will pay for a complementary therapy session for a patient to help alleviate pain and reduce stress and anxiety.
- Just £80 will provide support and counselling for a bereaved relative.
- Every £30 will pay for an hour of specialist nursing care for a patient being cared for at home.
We were delighted to sponsor the walk again this year maintaining their 8 year close relationship with the Hospice.
