During Build

K Rend offer a variety of products that can be used during build up to enhance application of K Rend products

Accelerator

K Rend Accelerator is a liquid additive used to reduce the waiting time before scraping K Rend scraped texture renders. It accelerates the curing time meaning that the render may be scraped earlier, enabling a faster job completion. It may be used in cold conditions to improve the scraping time (however all winter working precautions still apply). It has no effect on the appearance of the render.

TC-Additive

TC-Additive is a solvent-free additive to thin coat renders, used to reduce the drying time of synthetic resin renders under low temperature conditions.

TC-Additive is ideal for use in low temperature conditions. It helps promote the drying of synthetic resin plaster coatings in the temperature range of approx. + 5 °C to + 15 °C. Early rainproofing is also achieved when using TC-Additive.

Product Specification

Technical Data
Appearance:

White milky liquid

Density:

0.98 g/cm3

pH:

≈ 9.0

Material consumption:

250 mL per 25 kg tub of thin coat

Temperature of application:

≥ +5 °C - ≤ + 15 °C

Shelf life / storage:

27 months from date of production. Store in dry, frost-free conditions.

Application Instructions
  • TC-Additive should be agitated thoroughly and added to the thin coat. Mix until homogenous just prior to exterior application. Surfaces must be clean, free from any loose material such as paint, oils, soot, lichen and dust prior to application of thin coat.
  • TC-Additive can be used at minimum temperatures of +5 °C and maximum relative humidity of 85%.
  • Maximum air and substrate temperature should be +15 °C.
  • Exposure to direct sunlight may lead to crack formation and colour deviations.
  • During application, wear protective clothing and eyewear.
  • Clean tools and equipment thoroughly

R7 Acrylic

K Rend R7 Acrylic is a primer used to go onto difficult substrates such as brick in preparation for our K Rend HP 12/HPX Base Coat which is applied whilst the R7 is still tacky. R7 Acrylic can be applied using a roller or by hand. This modified acrylic emulsion is used to improve the adhesion of K Rend renders to difficult substrates where the background does not provide sufficient key or has poor suction characteristics. The material is usually diluted before use.

Technical Data
Coverage as a primer:

5 - 10 m² per litre of diluted material, depending on substrate and level of application

Application Instructions

DILUTION

  • Dilute K Rend R7 Acrylic by pouring the material into clean drinking water
  • For most applications, a dilution of 1 part K Rend R7 Acrylic to 4 parts water is recommended
  • Site trials should be carried out to determine the optimum dosage rate

PRIMING COAT

  • Dilute K Rend R7 Acrylic as required
  • Mix render, ready for application
  • Apply primer to surface using brush or roller
  • Apply render to primed background whilst the primer is still wet or tacky
  • Do not allow primer to skin over or dry before applying render

GAUGING LIQUID

  • Dilute K Rend R7 Acrylic as required
  • Use diluted K Rend R7 Acrylic as gauging liquid to mix render
  • Apply render to substrate as normal
  • K Rend R7 Acrylic may affect the render performance, including handling properties and setting times

SCUD COAT

  • Dilute K Rend R7 Acrylic as required
  • Use diluted K Rend R7 Acrylic as gauging liquid to mix with K Rend HP12 Base into a slurry
  • Apply as splatter-dash or stipple coat to background
  • Allow scud coat to cure before rendering

R10

K Rend R10 is a modified acrylic bonding coat designed to improve the adhesion of K Rend renders to high suction substrates such as a light weight block where the background does not provide sufficient key or has poor suction characteristics. K Rend R10 can be applied using a roller or by hand. K Rend R10 prepares the background for application of K Rend one coat renders, without the need of a Base Coat.

Technical Data
Appearance:

Self-coloured palette

Density:

1.2kg / m³

Coverage:

0.25 to 0.45kg/ m² approx.

| depending on substrate and application technique. Higher suction backgrounds require more material and may require two coats.

Application Instructions
  • The temperature of the substrate and surrounding air should be a minimum of 5°c
  • Do not apply in conditions of strong sunshine or wind; do not apply onto damp or frozen substrates
  • Stir bucket contents thoroughly before use; do not add water to product
  • Apply K Rend R10 by roller or brush and allow to dry before applying top coat

Alkali Resistant Reinforcing Mesh

Alkali Resistant Reinforcing Mesh is a reinforcing scrim cloth to improve crack resistance of K Rend render systems. The material is manufactured from specially woven glass-fibre mesh fabric with specially designed mesh surface treatments to produce an alkali resistant, flexible mesh for use in any Portland cement, Hydraulic Lime, Acrylic or Latex based stucco, mortar or surfacing material.

(55m roll) is used to reduce the build up of stress at typical stress points in the building, this minimises the potential for cracking.

  • Used to reinforce the base coat
  • Simple to install
  • Used with all K Rend one-coat renders
  • Alkali resistant
  • Improves crack resistance
  • Helps accommodate building movement
  • Improves impact resistance
  • Must be used for product/system warranty

K Rend Beads

K Rend provide a range of beads to suit all project requirements.

Expansion bead

The K Rend Expansion Bead is a seamless product with a co-extruded central flexible rib. To be used either horizontally or vertically where there is a change in the underlying substrate or to break up larger areas of render where slight expansion movement may be expected.

Stop Bead

The K Rend Stop Bead is designed to provide a finished protected edge at window and door reveals and other locations where there is a change of final finish or depth at junctions with alternative claddings.

Drip Bead

The K Rend Drip Bead is for use in locations similar to Bellcast Beads, provides a rain water drip edge but that it is flush with the render thus alleviating the possibility of water retention on the sloping surface of a Bellcast with the attendant staining risk.

Angle Bead

The K Rend Angle Bead is for use where a True Sharp corner is required, protecting the render at its most vulnerable position from impact damage.

Bellcast Bead

The K Rend Bellcast Bead is used at the base of a rendered wall and at DPC level, over door and window reveals and any location where rain water is to be thrown clear of the substrate below by the flare of the bell shape design. A traditional approach.

New Heavy Duty Angle Bead

The New K Rend Heavy Duty Angle Bead is used for the same purpose as angle bead above but primarily in thicker traditional twin coat renders with the secondary (twin nose) providing a depth gauge for the base coat. The arris of these beads providing a small radius corner. design. A traditional approach.

K Rend Impact Bead with Mesh

For use in thin coat systems. Designed to provide a continuous mesh reinforcement around the corner with the benefit of an underlying rigid uPVC supporting bead beneath.

K Rend Angle Bead with Mesh

The K Rend Angle Bead with Mesh is the same design criterion as for our other angle beads but with the added protection of unbroken mesh reinforcement around the corner beneath the bead.
